Harvey Elliott Stunner Puts Liverpool in Champions League Pole Position
Liverpool’s hope of claiming a seventh Champions League title was given a huge boost in Paris last night as super-sub Harvey Elliott emerged as the unlikeliest of heroes, scoring an astonishing 1-0 win against a difficult opponent, Paris Saint-Germain.
Astonishing Heroics from Harvey Elliott
The 20-year-old could barely have done any better on his modest of tasks as a substitute. Minute after minute into the game, Elliott had been told to hang close to Mohamed Salah as he undertook the business of very effectively swaying the PSG defense left and right.
But as Elliott entered one minute too far into the match, he was sent on in Salah’s stead, doing to the PSG back line what either of those two Liverpool forwards might have done.
A Thunderous Finish
What he did was record a thunderous finish in the 86th minute, and this is the kind of performance Liverpool fans have come to expect from their club since its somewhat mythical inception in 1892.
